About Sir Mark Prescott

Sir Mark Prescott grew up on a farm in Devon, with strong paternal parliamentary roots. A promising steeplechase riding career was cut short by a serious injury, but in 1969 he took over Heath House Stables in Newmarket, where he remains Britain’s longest-serving trainer.

From his 50-horse stable he has produced over 2,400 winners,  including  champions HoorayAlboradaAlbanova, Pivotal and Marsha, the latter selling for a record 6 million guineas. He trained Alpinista to six consecutive Group 1 victories, culminating in the 2022 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and last season trained Consent to win the Group 1 Prix Royallieu at Longchamp. His career also includes numerous premier handicaps and long-standing flat-race records that still stand today, such as Spindrifter winning 13 times (10 consecutively), Masafi winning seven times in 17 days at six different courses, and Misty Halo winning 25 times. Beyond racing, he is a lover of all country sports and chaired the Newmarket Heath Committee for 46 years.
